The Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan united in its ranks only rowing and canoeing, as well as the regional departments of rowing and canoeing created at that time. Rowing developed independently, without its own federation.
In 1972, a new type of rowing – rowing slalom – was included in the official program of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich. But in Uzbekistan, it began to develop only 20 years later. In 1995, departments of rowing slalom were created in Tashkent, the capital and some other regions of Uzbekistan.
Gradually, with the development and improvement of rowing sports – rowing and canoeing, academic rowing and rowing slalom, it became necessary to unite them all into one federation.
Such a significant event in the development of rowing sports in Uzbekistan took place on May 25, 2009. An extraordinary Conference of the Uzbekistan Canoe Federation was held in the capital. It was attended by 34 delegates from Tashkent, Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan, Samarkand and Fergana regions.
The Conference unanimously adopted a decision to include rowing in the Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan.
In connection with the changes and additions to the Charter of the Federation, as well as the inclusion of rowing in its composition, it was decided to rename the Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan to the Federation “ROWING & CANOE” of Uzbekistan.
Currently, the Federation Presidium includes: Sultanov Alisher Saidabbasovich, Didrikh Vyacheslav Sergeevich, Kurbanov Shukhrat Turaevich, Mamatkulova Tatyana Abdurakhmanovna, Sokhibov Bobur Parfievich and the Executive Committee.
