In 1991, the Republic of Uzbekistan gained independence and sovereignty. A number of laws and legislative acts were adopted obliging public associations to register with the justice authorities. In this regard, the Republican Conference of the Canoe Federation was held in 1993, where its Charter was approved, and the governing bodies were elected. At that time Mukhitdinov Bakhodir Khusnutdinovich was elected as the Chairman of the Federation, Boyko Vladimir Fedorovich was elected First Deputy Chairman, Shaoziz Abdullaevich Shoabdurakhmanov was elected as the Executive Director of the Federation, Tatyana Abdurakhmanovna Mamatkulova was elected as the Federation’s Executive Director.

In June 1997, an extraordinary Conference of the Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan was held at the Museum of Olympic Glory, where amendments and additions were made to the Statute of the Federation, as well as a number of organizational issues were considered. The Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan united in its ranks only rowing and canoeing, as well as the regional departments of rowing and canoeing created at that time. Rowing developed independently, without its own federation.

In 1972, a new type of rowing – rowing slalom – was included in the official program of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich. But in Uzbekistan, it began to develop only 20 years later. In 1995, departments of rowing slalom were created in Tashkent, the capital and some other regions of Uzbekistan.

Gradually, with the development and improvement of rowing sports – rowing and canoeing, academic rowing and rowing slalom, it became necessary to unite them all into one federation.

Such a significant event in the development of rowing sports in Uzbekistan took place on May 25, 2009. An extraordinary Conference of the Uzbekistan Canoe Federation was held in the capital. It was attended by 34 delegates from Tashkent, Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan, Samarkand and Fergana regions.

The Conference unanimously adopted a decision to include rowing in the Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan.

In connection with the changes and additions to the Charter of the Federation, as well as the inclusion of rowing in its composition, it was decided to rename the Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan to the Federation “ROWING & CANOE” of Uzbekistan.

Currently, the Federation Presidium includes: Sultanov Alisher Saidabbasovich, Didrikh Vyacheslav Sergeevich, Kurbanov Shukhrat Turaevich, Mamatkulova Tatyana Abdurakhmanovna, Sokhibov Bobur Parfievich and the Executive Committee.
