Minister of Youth Policy and Sports Adham Ikramov is on a working visit to India these days. During his business trip, the Minister visited the city of Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) in order to study the experience of the country's sports system and involve young people in sports in remote regions. During the trip, Adham Ikramov is accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Republic of India Dilshod Akhadov. Cricket is the most popular sport in India. Field hockey, kabbadi, martial arts, archery are also among the most common disciplines among the local population. During the visit, the Minister got acquainted with the activities of the Gurukul Sports Academy, founded by local businessman Ajay Gupta, as well as the Godwin Public School. The Gurukul Sports Academy, which operates on the basis of ancient Indian education, is specialized in archery. About 90 pupils study all the secrets of this sport in it. The main purpose of the educational institution is to educate young athletes in remote areas, as well as to ensure their selection to the National team. This is the basic essence of the ancient education system – students live and study together with a mentor in one place. In addition, they practice a certain sport under the guidance of qualified coaches. The training lasts 6 hours a day. Students receive free education, play sports and live there. The state partially finances this system and gives salaries to coaches. Godwin Public School is one of the most popular sports facilities in the region. The director of the school, Vinarma Sharma, and the president of the Wushu Federation of India, Bupender Bajwa, told Adham Ikramov in detail about the ongoing work and activities of the institution. It is worth noting that the visit of a domestic specialist coincided with the week "Fit India School Week.". It was a great opportunity to witness and observe firsthand how effective the system working here is. Adham Ilhamovich personally attended school clubs, talked with athletes. The Minister of Youth Policy and Sports highly appreciated the system created by Indian specialists and exchanged views on its uniqueness, the organization of joint training between local and Uzbek athletes. The Minister also invited Indian athletes to the International International Ethnosport Festival, which is scheduled for September 7-10 in Khiva.
