Yesterday, the parade of the international regatta "President's Cup-2024" took place in Mingachevir (Azerbaijan). Before the event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the participating teams were presented to the public. Then a visit to the monument of Heydar Aliyev took place. President of the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation Vugar Akhmedov, head of the executive authority of Mingachevir city Ilham Ismailov, deputy Elman Nasirov, and the leaders of the national team laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev. Then the parade continued with the artistic part. The athletes marched in front of the fans to the performance of a special orchestra. Later there were various dances and performances. At the end, special drum shows were shown. The opening ceremony of the regatta and the first day of the competition will be held today, May 1, on the historical land of Sugovushan. The 4-day marathon is attended by participants from more than 20 countries — in addition to the host country and ours - Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine. It should be noted that competitions on kayaks and canoes at distances of 200 and 500 meters will be held at the Sugovushan reservoir. The regatta will continue on May 2-3 at the Mingachevir Olympic Training and Sports center "Kur". Here, teams will compete in kayaking, canoeing and rowing.
